HOUSE OF DAVID

With the series HOUSE OF DAVID we are diving in halfway through the story because we are starting in 2 Samuel, so it would be worthwhile reading or listening to 1 Samuel.

This part of the Bible can be tricky in knowing how to apply it to our own lives. Often our default is to read ourselves into the story and look to whose example we might try to follow and what to avoid, but we should see this as part of God's whole story that climaxes in the promised Messiah, Jesus, because he is the King, the Son of David, who was promised to reign for eternity. Jesus has defeated sin, death, the devil and is the priest-king, who brings us into the presence of the Almighty God. So, as we look at 2 Samuel may we see the magnificence of Jesus more clearly, so that we can delight in him even more.
