Mike’s Blog – February 2009

Just looking at some of the things we are trying to do this year leaves me excited and a bit tired! I feel like we are attempting to climb Mt. Everest in a pair of thongs! Starting on February 15 we begin a new bible talk series called The Church Jesus Wants we are looking at Jesus’ letter to the seven churches in Revelation 1-3.  For the first time at st.andrew’s our small groups will all be following the bible talk series and studying the passages each week after the talk.  From this series, it is hoped that st.andrew’s might come up with a vision and mission statement and identify our core values as a church from the things Jesus values in his assessment of the churches in Revelation.  We want to be the church Jesus wants in Rockhampton!

In April we are hosting a mission from the QTC (Queensland Theological College) who are coming to minister with us at CQU and within the church to reach people for Jesus.

 In May we start the first annual CQCC Central Queensland Christian Convention hosted at our church inviting christians to hear the Bible taught faithfully by two great speakers: Phil Campbell and Anthony Petterson.  We’re hoping the word is getting out and people are inviting others to come along for a great long weekend (May 2-4) of Bible teaching and christian encouragement.

In June we are having a 3 day kids mission with the team from Quizworx, which should be very exciting.

Not to mention amongst all of this, our leaders are being trained in leading small groups, we are starting a new high-school youth group this month and we begin to begin a ministry at CQU Rockhampton!

No wonder I’m feeling tired…

But I am excited about what God will do with our efforts and how he might draw new people to himself and grow in Christ-likeness those who follow him.
