Fruit of the Spirit

On Sunday 15th April, we started a three week series on the Fruit of the Spirit. Mike spoke on “Love” from 1 John 4:7-21, reminding us that God demonstrated his love to us in the death of Jesus for us. Because God has given us his Spirit, we ought to demonstrate that same love to others as God works within us. You can listen to Mike’s talk from the Bible Talks page. Why don’t you have a listen and subscribe to our podcast while you’re there?

Next week, we’re thinking about “Joy” and the following week it’ll be “Peace”.

We’ll return to this series at various times throughout the year, but come Sunday 6th May, we’re going back to the beginning to investigate what the opening chapters of the Bible actually say, what they mean and what it all has to do with us. Why don’t you join us from May 6th as we dig into Genesis 1-11 together.

Mission in Myanmar

On Tuesday 3rd April, we have the opportunity to join together with Fitzroy Presbyterian Church to hear from Rev Dr Thang Bwee, the Principal of The Evangelical Reformed Church’s Reformed Bible Institute in Myanmar. Thang Bwee works with one of our mission partners, Martin Eagle, so this will be a great opportunity to hear about the gospel work going on in that country.

The evening will be hosted by Fitzroy Presbyterian Church at St Stephen’s Church, Burnett St, Berserker from 7pm.

Please come along and bring something to share for supper.

Book Review: The Trellis & The Vine

This is a great little book to help think through priorities in ministry. Congregational life and denominational expectations can easily change our focus from ministering to people to ministering for people. I can not recommend this book highly enough to people in ministry and those keen to be involved more at Church. After 10 years of Pastoral ministry its very easy to get caught up in the cycle of meetings, committees and denominational responsibilities. The Trellis and the Vine isn’t anything new – there are no new revolutionary ideas here but simply the encouragement and the thinking to help the church rethink it’s priorities and to start becoming intentional in it’s mission of disciple-making disciples.

After 10 years of Word based Ministry it’s good to be back in the Word with people. I love how the Trellis and the Vine tells me how to suck eggs especially when I’ve been sucking on lemons. Every Christian would benefit from reading this book!

Author Col Marshall will be coming to Rockhampton June 14-15 to run a two day conference on how to apply the principles of this book.

The King’s Cross

On Sunday January 29th we begin our new bible talk series at St.Andrew’s and at Northside on Mark’s Gospel called The King’s Cross. The Bible talk series on Mark will take us all the way up to Easter, our small groups will be following the bible talk series doing studies on Mark. Make sure you get along to church each week and sign up for a small group!

Australia Day BBQ

Come and join us on Australia Day from midday as we fire up the BBQ, slip off the thongs, slip on some sunscreen and tuck into some Pavlova. Our church is having a BBQ together on Australia Day at Riverside Park! If you are new to church, or even new to Rockhampton why not come and join us for a sausage or two and get to meet some new mates? No need to RSVP, just turn up with whatever you want to eat and drink. It’ll be beaut.

Sorry the website has been down for a couple of weeks. We’ve been doing our best to sort out the issues so that you can access our podcast and bible talks again (free from compromise). Hopefully everything should be back to normal before Christmas.
