On Sunday January 29th we begin our new bible talk series at St.Andrew’s and at Northside on Mark’s Gospel called The King’s Cross. The Bible talk series on Mark will take us all the way up to Easter, our small groups will be following the bible talk series doing studies on Mark. Make sure you get along to church each week and sign up for a small group!

Australia Day BBQ

Come and join us on Australia Day from midday as we fire up the BBQ, slip off the thongs, slip on some sunscreen and tuck into some Pavlova. Our church is having a BBQ together on Australia Day at Riverside Park! If you are new to church, or even new to Rockhampton why not come and join us for a sausage or two and get to meet some new mates? No need to RSVP, just turn up with whatever you want to eat and drink. It’ll be beaut.

Sorry the website has been down for a couple of weeks. We’ve been doing our best to sort out the issues so that you can access our podcast and bible talks again (free from compromise). Hopefully everything should be back to normal before Christmas.

On Sunday 9th October we’ll officially start our new evening church at the University of Central Queensland.

We’ve been meeting for the past couple of weeks ironing out some of the bugs but we’re really looking forward to the official start which coincides with our next series called “Can of Worms”.

At rockypc, we’ve just started our series on the book of Acts – On A Mission From God, but we’re already looking forward to fourth term when we’ll be opening a big “Can of Worms”.

Over seven weeks, we’ll be looking at some big questions raised against Christianity and seeing what the Bible has to say about these tough issues.

Acts | On A Mission From God

This weekend we’re starting a new sermon series on the Book of Acts.

We’ll be thinking about God’s Mission to take the good news about Jesus to the ends of the earth.

There’s loads of encouragements and challenges for us to see as we look through the book of Acts. There’s heaps of interesting stories and developments and even twists in the tale. There’s ten important speeches filled with detail about Jesus and what he has done for all people. But what we’ll see most of all, is the way that God is on a mission in the pages of this book. It’s His Holy Spirit who is constantly at work in people, calling them to repentance and faith in the risen Lord Jesus. It’s Him driving this mission forward, through the work of the apostles as they preach his word, all the way to the end of the earth.

And what we need to realise is that God’s mission is continuing today, in Rockhampton. We’re at the end of the earth. And we need to get on with God’s mission, just like His apostles did. God is at work by His Spirit and through His Word. We need to do our part because we’re “On a Mission from God!”

Rockhampton Flood Update

Firstly , I wanted to say thank you to the many of you who’ve contacted me and offered your help and support and willingness to pray for us. I can’t speak for other places other than Rockhampton but from what we’ve all seen on the TV the damage to people and property in places like Emerald, Chinchilla and Bundaberg has been enormous.

I can tell you about Rockhampton and give you some direction concerning prayer for us.

Currently our river ‘The Fitzroy” is at 8.5m we are heading for 9.4 metres on Tuesday or Wednesday. For the second time in its history the Rockhampton Airport is now closed for approximately 3 weeks. Roads to the North and South and West are now cut – Rockhampton is isolated.

Food in the supermarkets is running low – people are panic buying I’ve never experienced hysteria and mob fear before but I did the other day in the supermarket (and I go grocery shopping with my wife often).

Our church property is not in any immediate danger and neither is my home or family we are well away from the flood waters even when they peak. At this stage, I know of no-one from our church family at St.Andrews who is struggling or has been evacuated but obviously I will know more tomorrow. That said, I do know of a few families staying with others because of rising waters – damage is far too early to know.

Would you please pray:

That God’s people in Rockhampton would rejoice that Jesus is still on his throne and King of the Universe
That our church family would love other people and consider them rather than ourselves so that Jesus might be known by our lives.
That as the waters rise so would our confidence in the gospel and our willingness to share the good news of Jesus to all men.
